My Experience with Jetblue and Spirit
So when I travel and I’m looking for great deals, I usually fly Southwest, however, there was a great deal on flights for JetBlue and Spirit Airlines. Being a Travel agent, I decided I would give both a try so I could then let me clients know how I felt about both Airlines. So here goes.
We flew out of Hartford, Ct on Jetblue. Before heading to the airport, I had already checked in, paid for the extra leg room seat and for one luggage. The prices were $65 for each seat, and $35 for the luggage. Check in was very easy from my JetBlue App.
When loading on the Flight, we found our seats right away. Once in the seats, we had plenty of leg room, and the plane was very clean. The seats could recline and and the trays adjusted as well.
I was unsure of what the Airline included, but to my surprise the wifi was free, they had TV’s on the seats, many drink selections and multiple snack selections, rather then just nuts from other airlines.
I didn’t use the TV, however, the WiFi wasn’t the greatest, but the staff told us to please contact JetBlue because they would give everyone a voucher for $15 because the TV and WiFi wasn’t working properly.
After being in the air for 3 hours, I was ready to get off and enjoy my vacation. My first flight with JetBlue was very pleasant, and I look forward to flying with them again.
My flight back to CT didn’t go as well.
Now, I have heard things before about Spirit, but I wanted to give them a chance for myself. It started with check in, which I tried to do online, we purchases the extra leg room again and the luggage cost, which was roughly the same cost, however, when we got to the airport, they made us check in again, then use a Kiosk to get the luggage tag and as we were doing so, the machine we were using wasn’t working and the woman standing there wasn’t much help. The luggage tag was all set and we were finally on our way.
Once we finally boarded after the gate was moved, we got found our seats, except our extra leg room, wasn’t as nice as JetBlue. There were no TV’s, you couldn’t recline the seats, and there were only drinks and snacks for purchase. I felt stuck in the seat and the tray was broken so I was afraid to open it.
Now, maybe none of that is important to you, and you just want a cheap flight to get you where you need to go, then Spirit will be just fine.
The best part of the flight was when the flight attendant gave us the emergency talk, he was so funny and entertaining, I wish I had videoed it, but I was stuck in my seat.
After the 3 hours in this flight, the landing almost gave me a heart attack, because the plane was the loudest I’ve ever heard and the entire thing was shaking, so exiting that plane was a great moment for me.
So, I’m glad that as a Travel Agent, I was able to try both airlines. I will be able to give my own personal opinion about them when I book clients on either of them. I will definitely fly JetBlue again for sure, and maybe over Southwest now. As for Spirit, well, if I need to get somewhere cheap, I may try them again.
