2020 has brought a lot of uncertainties and change. In March, thousands of people were sent home from their jobs, unable to bring in income and were forced to go on unemployment. Some were given an option to work remotely from home. Others were essential and worked the Front lines. Through it all, everyone was dealing with all the stress and change. One of the big changes was, kids were now home from school and doing virtual learning.
Months of jobless Americans and education now online, moms and dads are trying to figure out how to return to work and help their kids at home with school. Many schools are either virtual or hybrid. So, how can you work and teach your child from home?

So, as I was scrolling through my Facebook News feed, I kept seeing one of my friends posting pictures of her many vacations, I knew she was a nurse, so I assumed she was making great money to go on all of these beautiful resorts. I then saw a post that she was a Travel Agent and was seeking new agents that may be interested in working from home. So, I reached out and told her I wanted to know how she became an agent and all the details. I started looking into becoming a Travel Agent, I researched all the options and to see what all about. What I found was that my friend who has her own business for travel, had a host company that holds all her credentials and insurance. So, she didn’t have any extra costs or overhead she needed to pay. I asked her for more information because I was still on the fence.
She knew I had questions and she knew I was cautious, so she asked if I wanted to check out an informational video to explain it all. Absolutely, I wanted all the information I could get before I made a move.
What that video explained to me was how I was basically giving companies money by booking through their booking sites. I found out that I could book my own vacations and others and I could be the one to earn the same commission that the booking sites were getting, but the best part was that I could help my clients with a more personal booking experience and get them great deals as well. I was also able to get travel education, earn certifications and register to book vacations with suppliers like, Disney, Marriott, and so many more. With every booking I can earn a commission and all I need to do is look for the best deals and plan a vacation for my clients. Sounds too good to be true, right?
I was hooked after researching and hearing what an amazing opportunity this was. I couldn’t wait to start and I wanted to create my name, business and get all the education I could to start that day. Once I started though, I soon realized I needed to slow down and learn the important things and gain the knowledge I needed in order to help my clients. I registered with suppliers and took my training seriously. I love learning about new places and I was determined to be ready for my clients.
During the training I was doing, I was excited to learn all the Agent deals I now had access to as well. I am able to book more then just a vacation, I can book activities, cars, trains, house rentals, and even sporting events. I had access to so many things and i learned how to book a vacation on a budget, how to get the best for your money and great deals that even those booking sites can’t get. Now, I know how my friend was doing it.
Like any business, you have to invest and put in the work, it doesn’t happen over night. Being able to work from home has been a blessing for me and my family. I am still booking travel and I am still booking cruises for next year, because people will travel, no matter what. During this pandemic, many people had to cancel their travel plans, or their plans got cancelled on them. When they called those booking site to get help, they had to wait hours and many were having a hard time getting their money back. Due to the long wait times and millions of dollars lost during the Spring shutdowns, people began turning to Travel Agents to help them out.
Travel Agents offer a free service when we book travel for you. We get to know our clients personally and we know what they are looking for. We are there to help you with all the booking process and we’re ready to make the cancellations if need be. No need for you to do all the research and be on those lengthy hold time to get to a real person on the line. More people began realizing the this after their poor experiences and inability to get refunded for their canceled trips.

I joined the Host Company I am with in February 2019 and have been able to create my own business, book travel for my friends, family and myself. I have fun learning about all the places that my clients want to go. I love when they tell me they want a place in 3 hours driving distance, with a hot tub and a fireplace in their room, for their Anniversary. I take the challenge and I make it happen, even with chocolates in their room to greet them. I love what I do and I love that I just went on my honeymoon for a price I could afford and came home to a commission check from everything I booked.
